About the Opportunity 

Amentum South Africa (Pty) Ltd, an EPC company that does Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) installation projects in the Nuclear Industry (Koeberg Nuclear Power Station), has an opening for an Engineer in Training (EIT) position in our Melkbosstrand office. In this position, you will work with engineers on development and infrastructure projects that require teamwork and problem-solving capabilities. You would join the Graduate Development programme where you support more senior staff, learn from them and in turn work towards professional engineering / project management registration.

Job Purpose:

To perform and coordinate engineering assignments designed to develop professional working knowledge, requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria necessary to fulfil the experience requirement for licensure as a professional engineer or project manager. This involves a range of tasks from Site Supervision, Subcontractor Control, tracking, letter writing, calculations, drawing updates, meeting minutes, technical queries, procurement, equipment control, quality control, doc tracking, etc. All things construction projects and project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide design assistance to the engineers for a variety of engineering projects.

  • Perform calculations.

  • Perform research on selected topics.

  • Write technical reports and letters.

  • Review construction sites and file inspection reports.

  • Communicate with all parties involved in the project always in a timely manner.

  • Assist the professional engineers in tasks as requested and be responsive and attentive to client’s needs.

  • Perform engineering, construction and project tasks relating to site implementation requirements.

  • Manage and assist with documentation.

  • Participate in HSEQ.

Here's What You'll Need 

Qualifications:

  • BSc / BEng in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering/Instrumentation and Control.

  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.

  • A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and Latest software.

Requirements:

  • Hard work ethic, works well in a team environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Ambitious.

  • Good communication skills both oral and written.

  • Willing to learn through participation and work.
