SUMMARY
Responsible as a member of the Project Engineering team to manage projects, coordinate engineering designs, report on project controls, procure goods and services, and coordinate construction of assigned capital projects. Assist in the development of Engineering personnel, department procedures, and overall continuous improvement activities for the site.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage capital projects from initial submission through project completion and closure.
Collaborate across multiple departments and Engineering disciplines.
Responsible for the scope, cost estimates, budget, milestones, and project completion.
Develop budget estimates, obtain approvals for expenditure, request quotes for goods and services, track project expenses versus approvals, ensure project milestones are met, have project deliverables ready in time for the construction group to install successfully.
Oversee contract engineering firms to ensure detailed mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil and structural designs in accordance with Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP), plant specifications, and ensuring that all aspects of the design will improve plant safety.
Review and approve engineered deliverables such as the project scope, drawings, field instructions, calculations, or study recommendations, while ensuring Maintenance and Production provide design feedback for the best site solution.
Develop work descriptions and specifications, issue requests for quotes for outside vendors. Review quotes and determine the best option for the application. Initiate procurement of goods and materials by working with the Purchasing department.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing of hardware and software systems to ensure vendor products adhere to specifications.
Provide project deliverables to the capital construction group for contractor selection and field installation. Inspect installed work, request field changes as needed, accept final product.
Prepare project status, construction progress and cost reports on a weekly, monthly and annual basis, as requested.
Assist in the development of the engineering team and provide mentorship to junior engineers. Continue to learn about changes in materials, equipment, and standards.
Provide required engineering services and technical knowledge for the application of new or different processes, equipment, and materials to existing production units to improve safety, production rates, quality, reliability, or operating costs.
Available after hours by phone (or otherwise) for consultation and/or possible call-out for plant problems or emergencies. Perform special projects as assigned.
Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate, promptly report safety, health or environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected. Attend monthly safety meetings to help prevent off-site and job accidents.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited program.
Two-years of engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing facility.
Desired Qualifications
Project Management Professional Certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; have full use and range of motion of arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist, and work with tools; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lying down or working from elevated platforms. The employee must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to see details of objects that are more/less than a few feet away; see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee must be able to work in a normal factory environment, including enclosed spaces and exposure to various hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
