Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Principal Electrical Engineer to work in McClellan/Sacramento, California. Join a team that develops transformative signal processing solutions to solve complex challenges in Signals Intelligence (SIGINT). Your work will contribute to real-world national security initiatives. This role requires no clearance to start, however the ability and willingness to obtain Top Secret with SCI clearance is required for continued long term employment.
This position may be filled as an Electrical Engineer or a Principal Electrical Engineer.
What You'll Get to Do:
The engineer will be expected to have a command on core communications systems engineering concepts from their electrical engineering degree to perform analysis, devise requirements for and implement the signal processing algorithms.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Perform architecture trades, design analysis, and performance modeling under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Provide engineering support for hardware development efforts.
Design detection and characterization algorithms for Radio Frequency communication signals under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Implement detection and characterization algorithms in compiled software (C++, Rust, etc.)
Test signal processing algorithms and receivers in a lab environment.
What some of your projects could look like:
Apply of AI/ML algorithms to solve signal processing problems in novel ways.
Design, test, and produce detection, characterization, and geolocation algorithms.
Support the deployment of core products on new platforms (e.g., manned aircraft, drones, ships, etc.).
Basic Qualifications for Engineer Electrical:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) and 2+ years of engineering experience OR Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering discipline with 0 years of engineering experience.
Candidates have completed specialty or relevant coursework in Communication Theory and Digital Signal Processing.
Experience using MATLAB for digital signal processing analysis and design.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Electrical:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) and 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering discipline with 3 years of engineering experience.
Candidates have completed specialty or relevant coursework in Communication Theory and Digital Signal Processing.
Experience using MATLAB for digital signal processing analysis and design.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Practical experience or coursework in programming languages such as C++, Rust, or Python.
Hands-on experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies.
Proficiency in lab-based testing and use of relevant test and measurement equipment.
Experience with simulating and processing RF communications in GNU Radio.
Familiarity software testing principles, version control systems (e.g., git), and object oriented design.
TS/SCI security clearance.
