Northrop Grumman has an opening for an Computer Aided Design (CAD) Modeler and Librarian to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be based out of Roy, Utah or San Antonio, Texas.

Candidate will be responsible to develop and maintain libraries of EEE parts within ECAD tools, specifically Siemens Capital, as well as develop and maintain libraries of component parts within common engineering design CAD tools and modeling parts within Siemens NX and Teamcenter. Candidate’s primary focus will be Siemens Capital. Candidate will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, components, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines to support the design of weapon systems and equipment under an overarching Systems Engineering and full lifecycle management framework.

Candidate will demonstrate ability to develop part models for EEE parts within Capital, develop part models for CAD parts within NX and Teamcenter, and maintain libraries. Candidate will conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with cable/harness/PCB designers, other hardware designers, and/or product line engineers in design, development, and utilization of software to create a representation of components for the CAD tools component library. Candidate must be detail-oriented and have a background in CAD usage and utilizing part datasheets/specifications/drawings for engineering applications. Candidate will create and review library components, symbols, and cells in accordance with established NGC and IPC industry guidelines meeting high levels of accuracy. The candidate will work alongside other members of a Standards/ Librarian and CAD team to develop processes and documentation.

Candidate will demonstrate a general understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts relative to parts management. Candidate will demonstrate general knowledge of Systems Engineering, multi-generational program system and/or multi-generational program subsystem development, and familiarity with supplier management.

A successful candidate will bring a strong ability to understand, implement and adhere to documented processes. Attention to detail, an inherent ability to interpret datasheets/specifications/drawings, and an aptitude to make sound decisions are key traits of a successful candidate.

Candidate will be self-motivated, work under general direction, and work well in teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is essential. Candidate must be able to obtain and sustain a Secret Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Sr. Principal: Bachelors degree in science with 8 years experience or 6 years with a Master's or 4 years with a PhD, or additional 4 years in lieu of degree.

  • Principal: Bachelors degree in science with 5 years experience or 3 years with a Master's or 1 year with a PhD or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.

  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance or higher.

  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience working with cable/harness design and/or CAD (ECAD or MCAD) library maintenance and development

  • Experience using Siemens Capital ECAD tool suite or similar wire/cable harness design software

  • Experience working with equipment design and/or modeling component parts in NX or equivalent CAD tools

  • Experience working with IPC standards for cable wire and harness assemblies and acceptance criteria

  • Experience working with military or industry component part specifications or standards

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering or other degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

  • Thorough understanding of wiring harness assemblies and design, printed circuit board design

  • 4 years experience modeling component parts in NX

  • Thorough understanding of hardware development, design assemblies, mechanical equipment design, electromechanical equipment design

  • Background and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with Siemens Capital, NX, Teamcenter, and Xpedition

  • An Active, In-Scope DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years

  • Special Program Access

  • Working knowledge of military and industry standards for EEE parts and assemblies

  • Familiar with technical drawings and engineering data for EEE parts and assemblies

  • Working knowledge of military and industry standards for mechanical or electromechanical parts and assemblies

  • Familiar with technical drawings and engineering data for mechanical or electromechanical parts and assemblies

  • Experience and familiarity with life cycle management

  • Familiar with supply chain management as it relates to parts management and obtaining technical specifications on components

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $117,700.00 - $167,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
