Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product to understand user stories, Engineering to understand architecture and design, and Operations to understand business workflows.
- Train and mentor Software Quality Engineers on testing concepts, tools, and processes.
- Lead and perform hands-on testing, including manual and automated approaches.
- Develop a deep understanding of NBCU’s product requirements and business objectives.
- Design and execute test strategies that meet functionality, performance, and user acceptance criteria.
- Determine appropriate automation approaches across multiple projects.
- Communicate effectively with project management teams to understand features, requirements, and releases.
- Follow and improve existing best practices for quality engineering.
- Perform peer reviews of test scripts and automation code.
- Ensure defects are clearly documented and communicated.
- Proactively identify and raise potential quality or delivery risks.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, testing tools, and AI-driven QA practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in software testing and test automation.
- Experience leading QA efforts across onshore and offshore teams.
- Proficiency in Java programming.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, JUnit, TestNG, Playwright, and/or Cypress.
- Experience testing REST APIs and writing advanced SQL queries for database validation.
- Familiarity with issue and test management tools (e.g., Jira, QMetry).
- Experience with version control systems and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to interpret and work with technical documentation (architecture diagrams, workflows, API specs).
- Experience testing and debugging in staging and production environments.
- Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
Preferred:
- Experience testing in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
- Background in media or entertainment technology.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Datadog, and CloudWatch.
- Interest or experience in applying AI tools and techniques to enhance QA processes.
