Responsibilities:
- Support a wide range of consumable development efforts, including demonstrating the viability of new designs, evaluating process changes/improvements, and resolving urgent issues with on-market products. This may initially be in the areas of nanofabrication and surface chemistry but has the potential to also extend to other consumable technologies.
- Engage in development efforts with statistically rigorous experimental design and data analysis. This role has a specific emphasis on supporting investigations through laboratory measurements and data aggregation.
- Evaluate, optimize, and introduce new measurement systems to consumable research and development teams.
- Actively participate in transferring characterization tools to consumables manufacturing, including demonstrating tool robustness, designing prototype measurement workflows, and training manufacturing process engineers to own systems after transfer
- Assist with characterizing consumable systems and their interfaces with the rest of the platform
- Assist project teams with system level characterization and ancillary equipment support
- Provide feedback of information to sub-system owners and assist teams with system improvements
- Participate in root-cause analysis experiments and present findings to project teams
- Work with engineers to develop and implement procedures to reduce or eliminate sources of systematic equipment failures
Experience/Education:
- Typically requires 0 to 2 years of previous professional experience.
- Experience with standard wet lab techniques (including the handling and preparation of solid, liquid, or thin film samples)
- Comfortable working and communicating across disciplines as applicants will often be balancing inputs from consumable design, process, fabrication, and chemistry teams
- Experience with statistical analysis (ANOVA, variance component analysis, gage R&R analysis)
- Experience with at least one scripting or programming language (python, R, C++, etc)
- Experience with image analysis (imageJ, OpenCV, or similar)

The estimated base salary range for the Engineer 1 - Development role based in the United States of America is: $67,000 - $100,600. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
