What You Will Do

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Bridgeport, WV as an Engine Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Specialist. We are seeking someone that wants to make a direct impact on the company’s financial performance. If you are experienced with engine maintenance and know how to guide a team to optimize costs at the fleet and component level, we have the ideal role for you.

While working in the MRO shop environment, you will seek out and drive cost savings during shop visits leveraging your technical expertise and relationships with inspectors, engineers, and line technicians. You will collect data and examples related to trends of hardware condition and work with your network to improve work scopes, extend inspection limits, develop repairs, and optimize decisions that will result in improvements to profitability for our maintenance contracts.

You will also work closely with customer managers and operations cost managers to optimize the fleet lifecycle cost for their customer’s fleets, investigate and report on hardware cost trends, review cost estimates, and influence engine costs during shop visit. You will also work in collaboration with technical and commercial specialists to define and refine work scopes that improve Time on Wing (TOW) and optimize repair costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a consultant for new programs, campaigns, quality escapes, and special projects. You are a respected product expert within the customer service program team that supports better decisions during engine shop visits.

  • Utilizing your technical expertise of shop processes, procedures, and technical manuals, monitor each engine event for opportunities to reduce scrap, salvage parts, and identify waste. This includes reviewing cost estimates, work scopes, and reviewing hardware and dispositions and other related and relevant documentation.

  • Perform technical reviews and assessments of engine hardware in the repair and overhaul facilities to identify and act on cost savings opportunities.

  • As you identify trends that may require a project, you will support a hand-off to the project manager with all relevant data, photos, etc. to build the business case. You will document your recommendations and share as needed. This role is vital to provide early insights on emerging issues and monitoring effectiveness of Gross Margin Expansion (GME) initiatives.

  • Knowledge sharing and providing training where there are learning opportunities to improve product knowledge or support other teams or business areas. You will also advise stakeholders in key business decisions.

  • You will be expected to travel up to 25% to visit other MRO facilities and our head office in Montreal, Canada.

  • Physically capable of safely handling engine parts using appropriate equipment

  • Must be proficient in English, French is an asset

What You Will Learn

The right candidate will have the opportunity to interact with an international team and have exposure to all P&WC engine product families. This is also a role that offers the opportunity to learn about company financials, long term engine maintenance commercial agreements, and deepen their technical product knowledge, including repair technologies, airworthiness and safety, or involvement in engineering design.

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Advanced Degree and 8+ years’ experience in Aerospace, Operations, Turbine engine maintenance and repair, or an MRO/manufacturing environment, OR a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field and 10+ years’ prior relevant experience

  • Active US Passport at the time of hire to accommodate international travel

Qualifications We Prefer

  • An MBA or other advanced degree in Business is preferred

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen

  • Prior experience in a Program Management role highly preferred

  • Working knowledge of engine inspection methods, engine and component repairs and procedures, and quality/airworthiness requirements

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
