Engagement Associate

University of Arizona Hillel

Role Overview

University of Arizona Hillel is looking for an Engagement Associate to help build a vibrant, high-energy Jewish community at one of the largest campuses in the country. This is a front-line, relationship-driven role for someone who thrives in social settings, builds trust quickly, and naturally connects with a wide range of students.

You will spend your time meeting students where they are on campus, in Greek life, at events, and in everyday moments, helping them find their place in Jewish life. The right person brings a strong presence, a relatable and engaging personality, and the ability to connect across different social circles, from highly involved students to those who have never been involved in the Jewish community.

What You’ll Do

Student Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Build meaningful one-on-one relationships with Jewish students across campus
  • Actively engage students in Greek life, campus organizations, and other social spaces
  • Reach students who are not yet connected to Hillel and help them find entry points
  • Follow up consistently to deepen relationships and increase participation

Programs & Community Building

  • Help plan and execute Shabbat dinners, holidays, and social programs
  • Partner with student leaders to create experiences that feel relevant, fun, and meaningful
  • Contribute ideas that bring energy and broad appeal to Hillel programming
  • Support recruitment and staffing for Birthright Israel trips

Campus Presence & Partnerships

  • Build strong relationships within fraternities, sororities, and other student communities
  • Represent Hillel across campus with a visible, approachable presence
  • Collaborate with campus partners to expand Hillel’s reach

Team & Operations

  • Track engagement and help evaluate what’s working
  • Contribute to team strategy and planning
  • Jump in wherever needed - this is a collaborative, fast-moving team

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0–3 years of professional experience
  • Strong interpersonal instincts - you are someone people naturally gravitate toward
  • Confidence navigating social environments and building connections quickly
  • Ability to engage both highly involved students and those on the margins
  • Initiative, creativity, and follow-through
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays
  • Interest in Jewish life and a willingness to continue growing your own connection
  • Experience in Greek life, athletics, or other highly social campus environments is a plus

What You’ll Receive

  • Salary range: $45,000–$50,000
  • Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement
  • Generous paid time off, including Jewish holidays
  • Professional development, mentoring, and access to the Hillel International network
  • Travel opportunities, including Birthright Israel staffing
  • A fun, social, and collaborative team environment
