Te tūranga – The role 

As Engagement Advisor, you will provide practical strategic communications and engagement advice for predominantly internal audiences and channels. Sitting within the Enterprise Services Group, your work will contribute to our purpose of driving RBNZ’s strategic objectives. Your role has an important impact through the delivery of effective communications and engagement activities that enhance RBNZ’s reputation and help us deliver on our priorities.

In this role you will:

  • Craft and edit content for a range of channels, including internal communications, web, social media, and publications

  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, and prepare regular summaries and insights for internal stakeholders

  • Coordinate responses to public and media queries, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging

  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of media conferences, internal events, and other engagement forums

  • Maintain and update communication frameworks, templates, and tools to support consistent and effective messaging

  • Assist with evaluating the effectiveness of communications activities and identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners as required

Ō pūkenga – About you 

We are looking for a collaborative team member who can work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a communications, engagement, or media role

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, or related discipline

  • Exceptional written and editing skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences and channels

  • Sound understanding of media relations, including monitoring, and responding to media queries

  • Demonstrated understanding of internal communications and stakeholder engagement principles to support culture, change and strategic delivery

  • Experience with digital communication tools and platforms (intranet, social media, email newsletters)

  • Ability to step in and support incident responses as required

  • Sound judgement and the ability to think holistically across a broad range of issues

  • Knowledge and application of Te Tiriti O Waitangi with the ability to support the integration of Te Tiriti, Te Ao Māori and diversity, equity and inclusion within our organisation
