Job Title:

Energy Manager – Power & Electrification Strategy (Europe)

Company:

Prologis

The Energy Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing energy across the portfolio to support Prologis’ net-zero-by-2040 ambition. The role focuses on energy capacity, grid connections, and energy contracts, while enabling the growth of solar, energy storage, electric mobility, and electrification-driven uses such as data centers. The Energy Manager works closely with internal teams, utilities, customers, and external partners to ensure that assets have sufficient current and future energy capacity and that energy solutions are delivered in line with ESG, commercial, and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Power Infrastructure Ownership

  • Manage portfolio-level energy capacity, including contracted capacity, available grid capacity, and future demand driven by electrification.
  • Maintain an accurate register of grid connections across the building portfolio (power capacity, metering).
  • Document and regularly update technical specifications such as transformer size, capacity headroom, and local substation characteristics.
  • Closely collaborate with and support data center initiatives, including assessment of grid capacity, interconnections, substations, and interim power solutions, aligning energy delivery with customer and project timelines.

Utility & Grid Engagement

  • Liaise with DSOs (Distribution System Operators) and TSOs to understand local constraints, upgrade procedures, and lead times.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with electric utilities and grid operators, coordinating grid connections, capacity upgrades, and long-term planning.
  • Enable distribution- and transmission-level connections, including the development of private substations where required.
  • Represent Prologis in discussions with utilities, regulators, and market stakeholders on grid access, capacity allocation, and clean energy integration.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative developments impacting grid access, energy contracts, and renewable deployment.

Future Power Needs Assessment & Planning

  • Translate electrification ambitions (e.g. heat pumps, solar PV integration, EV charging for vans/trucks, automation systems) into quantified site-specific power demand forecasts.
  • Compare future power demand with current grid capacity to identify shortfalls.
  • Lead the formulation of action plans, including technical, regulatory, and financial steps required to bridge the gap.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with electric utilities and grid operators, coordinating grid connections, capacity upgrades, and long-term planning.
  • Proactively drive applications for grid upgrades and/or alternative power solutions (e.g. battery storage, on-site generation, local grid reinforcement).

Consumption Monitoring & Optimization

  • Track and report actual electricity consumption per site.
  • Identify anomalies or over-capacity issues and flag opportunities for efficiency improvements or power reallocation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Engineering degree (electrical, energy systems or similar) or equivalent experience in industrial/utility-scale power management.
  • Proven knowledge of electricity grid infrastructure, connection processes, and regulatory environments in at least one major European market.
  • Experience in power forecasting, electrification planning, or DSO/TSO interactions is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with key warehouse electrification technologies (EV charging, HVAC electrification, PV, BESS).
  • Strong project management skills with ability to balance short-term fixes and long-term strategy.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional European language(s) are a plus.
