Database Manager - Encore (Cigna Retiree Program)
The Data Administration Manager leads a defined area within Database Administration and Management and is accountable for the delivery, performance, and reliability of assigned database services. This role supports enterprise database environments across multiple platforms. The role applies deep technical knowledge while operating within established practices and focuses on executing strategy, managing priorities, and ensuring operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day‑to‑day database operations, including performance, availability, security, and data integrity.
Manage database utilities, capacity planning, backups, and recovery across environments.
Partner with application, infrastructure, and business teams to support database needs and resolve issues.
Monitor project timelines and costs for database‑related initiatives within the assigned area.
Provide consultation and guidance to database users and stakeholders.
Prepare operational metrics, status updates, and progress reports.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency within database operations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience in database administration or data operations.
Strong understanding of database administration tools and practices.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting enterprise‑scale or multi‑platform database environments.
Background in regulated or highly controlled environments.
