Job Information

CSAA Insurance Group (CSAA IG), a AAA insurer, is one of the top personal lines property and casualty insurance groups in the U.S. Our employees proudly live our core beliefs and fulfill our enduring purpose to help members prevent, prepare for and recover from life's uncertainties, and we're proud of the culture we create together. As we commit to progress over perfection, we recognize that every day is an opportunity to be innovative and adaptable. At CSAA IG, we hire good people for a brighter tomorrow. We are actively hiring for an Employee Relations Consultant. Join us and support CSAA IG in achieving our goals.

Your Role:

The Employee Relations Consultant will provide strategic guidance on Employee Relations and performance management practices, partnering with leaders to ensure fair, consistent, and effective application of corrective action processes. This role will proactively identify compliance gaps, mitigate risk, and balance business priorities with employee experience and organizational standards, while building trusted relationships with leaders and serving as a credible, proactive resource to continuously strengthen Employee Relations capabilities across the organization.

Your Work:

Performance & Corrective Action Leadership

  • Coach and guide leaders through the full performance cycle—coaching, documented improvement plans, and corrective action—ensuring consistency and alignment with company standards and employee relations best practices.

  • Conduct fact-finding for moderate-complexity performance issues, escalate higher-risk matters, and implement corrective or disciplinary actions as needed.

Risk Identification & Compliance

  • Proactively identify systemic risk areas and compliance gaps in employee relations processes. Collaborate with leaders to resolve those risks and enhance policy compliance, consistent with organizational and legal standards.

  • Stay current on applicable employment laws, regulations, and internal policies, advising on implications for corrective actions and performance management.

Consultative Partnership

  • Develop and sustain rapport with leaders, establishing credibility as a trusted Employee Relations advisor. Build and foster stakeholder relationships with HR Business Partners and legal/audit partners.

  • Provide balanced counsel considering business objectives, employee outcomes, risk exposure, and manager support—positioning employee relations interventions as enablers, not roadblocks.

Fair, Defensible Investigations

  • Lead investigations into performance-related employee grievances and moderate employee relations issues using structured, defensible methodologies. Document findings, interview participants, and facilitate disciplinary outcomes through recommendations to business leaders.

Data Analytics & Insights

  • Use employee relations metrics and people analytics (e.g., case volume, resolution times, issue types) to detect trends and highlight areas for process improvement.

  • Proactively share insights with clients and propose data-driven solutions or training to address performance or compliance patterns.

Required Experience, Education and Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience in HR consulting, specifically employee relations.

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficient in management consulting, performance management, performance improvement, organizational development, employee relations, and workplace investigations.

  • Effective relationship-builder who earns trust and serves as a credible partner to leaders. Skilled in influencing, coaching, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, problem solving and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, reporting, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret employee relations data to drive proactive solutions and strategic improvements.

  • Possesses excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with audiences at all levels while conveying information with confidence and clarity.

  • Broad knowledge of HR industry and business practices and operations.

  • Strong investigative capabilities—structured approach, neutral interviewing, precise documentation.

What would make us excited about you?

  • This is a remote role; the ideal candidate would reside on the West Coast.

  • AWI Certificate Holder, SPHR/SHRM-SCP, Mediation/Alternative Dispute Resolution certification.

  • Employee Relations experience in a mid-size corporate environment highly desired.

  • Ability to actively shape our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.).

  • Lives into CSAA cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.).

  • Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings.

  • Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.
