Job Summary:

The Employee Health Nurse RN Site Lead will administer the daily operations of Employee Healthy & Wellness Center (EHWC) Services, under the direction of the Corporate Director. Promotes healthy, safety, and wellness to all employees by facilitating an Employee Health and Wellness program. Provides other EHWC services to other customers as directed (i.e.: volunteers, physicians, students, and external customers).

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • License in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  • CPR required.
  • Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) certification – may obtain during first year of employment.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with hospital leadership and Human Resources to help facilitate the needs of Employee Health.
  • Exhibits knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Job Roles:

  • Conducts and coordinates pre-employment and annual health screenings for all employees, volunteers and others as appropriate.
  • IGRA TB blood testing and TB screening.
  • Biometric testing.
  • Urine drug screening (pre-hire and for cause).
  • Promotes a safe work environment and follow-up of employee illness, injuries, and blood borne pathogen exposures.

  • Serves as point of contact between OIBP Plan Case Managers and employees.
  • Determines the need and administers vaccines as necessary and per recommendation of CDC, ACIP, OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Acts as a resource for minor health needs of employees and provides minor first aid treatment for employee injuries within the scope of practice for the RN.
  • Stays up to date with current CDC guidance on vaccines during increases of high consequence infectious diseases.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure completion of new hire and annual employee health screenings in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates response and conducts follow-up surveillance for work related exposures of communicable diseases in collaboration with Infection Prevention.
  • Coordinates annual hearing test for Physical Plant and Security.
  • Counsels’ employees after any workplace related injury or exposure and conducts post exposure testing related to BBP (Blood borne Pathogen) exposures.
  • Keeps appropriate logs of exposures and injuries.
  • Charts appropriately and correctly with current standards in Employee Health and Wellness Center Records.
  • Provides periodic review of all site records to ensure compliance.
  • Manages the protocol for the evaluation and management of healthcare worker TB exposure and/or conversions.
  • Coordinates and administers testing per protocol for TB exposures, creates tracking reports and provides appropriate reports to the Infection Prevention and Control Department and the Corporate Director.
  • Offers/provides health and wellness educational materials.
  • Coordinates and conducts employee workstation ergonomic evaluations.
  • Oversees testing for employee chemical hazard program.
  • Participates as an active member of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, Environment of Care Committee, Safety Products Committee and on other hospital-wide committees as designated.
  • Performs annual N95 mask fit testing.
  • Trains trainers for N95 fit testing (when appropriate).
  • Performs data entry in Respond Employee Health database.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts the annual Flu Vaccine Program.
  • Refers employees with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to appropriate resources.
  • Serves with Emergency Management to assist in providing clearance for Decontamination team.
  • Works closely with Human Resources and Legal in facilitating employee ADAA cases.
  • Directly responsible for all Employee Health needs during site visits and JCAHO as needed.
  • Works with Human Resources and pharmacy for all suspicious for cause drug screening in accordance with “MHS Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy”.
  • Responsible for scheduling all PRN and staff at site • Responsible for ordering all supplies and medications needed for office.
  • Responsible for training new employees to site.
  • Communicates with all staff on an ongoing basis regarding specific compliance expectations.
  • Provides coaching as needed regarding department concerns.
  • Responsible for training and education of house supervisors on OIBP injuries, blood borne pathogen exposures, and reasonable suspicion drug screenings.
  • Attends daily safety huddle and reports employee injury/exposure information.
  • Responsible for compliance reports in ReadySet.
  • Responsible for tracking trends in Employee illness and relaying information with plans to contain exposures to Infection Prevention.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
