Ambulance Vehicle Repair/MaintJob Summary:
Under close supervision, performs technical and mechanical manual work involving repair and maintenance of vehicles, light/heavy equipment, emergency vehicles, maintenance equipment, and other automotive/mechanical machinery.
Essential Functions:
Repairs and rebuilds technical, system/component and general mechanical issues on ambulances, vehicles, trucks, or other automotive/mechanical equipment using tools associated with repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment. Consults with drivers or equipment operators to obtain input on problems and determines approach to prevent future problems. (40%)
Tests vehicles, machinery, equipment, and parts to ensure proper operations; diagnoses problems involving systems/components of vehicles and equipment, conducts road tests of vehicles undergoing repair using tools associated with testing vehicles and equipment.

Performs routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment. (10%)
Welds and fabricates vehicle/equipment (10%)
Transports, loads and unloads various equipment, parts, and materials used in projects. (10%)
Tracks and replenishes inventory of division supplies (5%)
Cleans and maintains tools/equipment and reports on faulty equipment. (5%)
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
ASE and mechanic experience required.
Licenses:
DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of motor vehicles engine, parts, and systems, including their design, users, repair and maintenance.
Knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles including cars and trucks.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, installation, uses, repair and maintenance.
Knowledge of internal combustion engine ignition, carburetion, fuel and electrical systems sufficient to be able to perform maintenance, repair and major overhaul of diesel, gasoline, electric, and alternate fuel systems.
Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems sufficient to be able to perform diagnosis, maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of heating, cooling, air conditioning, and exhaust systems sufficient to be able to perform diagnosis, maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
Skill in using tools, equipment, and mechanic shop equipment common to light and heavy equipment diagnosis, maintenance, and repair.
Skill in tuning a variety of models and types of engines
