The Tucson Fire Fleet Management Division is proud to be certified as an ASE Blue Seal Repair Facility. The Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor is part of this team dedicated to providing service solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations. With a specialized fleet of emergency response vehicles, the Tucson Fire Department provides the latest technologies, shop equipment, ongoing in-house training, and industry certification opportunities to keep the fleet management team and the fleet at the forefront of the industry.


The Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor classification is included in a skill-based pay plan which provides compensation for achieving and maintaining 30 ASE and EVT certifications required for this position as listed below.


· ASE: Master Automotive Technician (A1 – A9)

· ASE: Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician (T1 – T8)

· EVT: Management (Level 1 and Level 2)

· EVT: Master Fire Apparatus Technician (F1 – F6)

· EVT: Master Ambulance Technician (E0 – E4)

ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Specific Summary

The Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor at the City of Tucson’s Fire Department supervises personnel in the maintenance, repair, and modification of emergency response vehicles and their components in a busy and fluid environment.   
 

Work is performed under the supervision of the Emergency Vehicle Fleet Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over division personnel.   


Duties and Responsibilities
This classification may include any of the listed duties, knowledge, skills, or other characteristics. This list is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all duties and tasks performed by incumbents of this class. Work assignments may vary depending on department needs.

  • Supervises and oversees the daily work of employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending and approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
  • Inspects, tests, and measures completed work to verify conformance to standards or repair requirements.
  • Inspects and monitors work area, examining tools and equipment, and providing safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Evaluates emissions tests, oil analysis, annual ladder inspections, and annual pump tests results.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 6 months post high school
Work Experience: Four (4) years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications
Technical School diploma/certificate or Associate’s degree
Valid and unrestricted Driver/Operator license.
Section 609 Freon Recovery and Recycling license.
Completion of the City of Tucson Supervisory Training Program.
Ability to lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
