We are actively seeking an Emergency Response & Security Advisor to join our Health & Safety team in Calgary on a contract basis. The Emergency Response & Security Advisor will provide expert guidance and support in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from various emergencies and security threats. This role involves developing and implementing plans, conducting risk assessments, coordinating responses, and providing training to ensure the safety and security of individuals and our organization.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintaining emergency response plans and business continuity plans, including identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and supporting field operations in establishing protocols for various emergency scenarios.
Conduct thorough threat and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to personnel, facilities, and operations. Developing strategies to mitigate identified risks and enhance security measures.
Conduct field visits to facilitate and support Area Security Management Meetings.
Support emergency response efforts during actual incidents, working with internal and external stakeholders, including first responders, government agencies, and other relevant organizations.
Liaise with CPS and local RCMP detachments and peer company security stakeholders. Provide regular follow up and update reporting on active cases and investigations.
Oversee security measures, including access control, surveillance systems, and security personnel, to protect personnel and assets.
Provide training and education to employees and stakeholders on the emergency and security management programs, along with safety measures.
Develop and update both the corporate governance and field-specific documents related to emergency management, security, and business continuity to ensure it meets regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal continuous improvement cycles.
Assist in the project management of security projects as required.
Requirements:
2-year diploma in an emergency management or security related field and at least 8 years of experience in the emergency management or security industry, or a degree and at least 4 years of experience in the industry.
Superior and current knowledge in security-related procedures, processes, and legislation (e.g. CSA Z246.1 / Z246.2).
Previous experience conducting comprehensive threat vulnerability risk assessments.
A valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Must have, or be able to obtain, licensing under the Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act.
Preference will be given to applicants with a related professional designation such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional in Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP).
