Position Summary

Ready to build a rewarding career in Emergency Preparedness at Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC)?  We are seeking a Emergency Preparedness Professional.   The Emergency Preparedness Professional provides oversight and support to Logistics & Storage operating components in the areas of emergency preparedness, incident response, related policies and procedures, Incident Management Teams (IMT), and Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO) management.  This role will primarily support assets throughout the Southeastern U.S., however, may periodically support assets across the U.S. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports development, maintenance, and field execution of emergency response programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.

  • Instructs Emergency Response and Incident Command System (ICS) training, facilitates drill design and agency/stakeholder coordination to meet Federal and State Regulatory criteria, and supports the development and renewal of Emergency Response Plans.

  • Conducts auditing on Emergency Response programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards. This includes analyzing drill performance data and lessons learned to identify and report trends, as well as proposing recommendations to address areas of concern.

  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with community stakeholders and regulatory agencies with jurisdictional oversight for facilities/assets in assigned region.

  • Represents company in key industry meetings and attends area contingency planning meetings. Provides input on proposed rulemaking.

  • Develops and presents training material related to a variety of Emergency Response topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.

  • Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, which may include providing input as an advisor and/or filling Incident Command Structure positions for emergency response incidents and drills/exercises/responses.

Minimum Education Required

  • High school diploma or GED with five (5) years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in HES or Emergency Response or related field with two (2) years of relevant experience

Minimum Experience Required

  • Working knowledge and execution of Emergency Preparedness regulatory compliance.

  •  Working knowledge of Incident Command System and expertise in at least one Unit Lead or General Staff Position.

  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System 100, 200, 300, 700, 800.

Preferred Education

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:

    • Emergency Management and Homeland Security

    •  Fire Science or Fire & Emergency Management

Preferred Experience

  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the implementation of the Incident Command System with the ability to train, fill, and advise multiple positions.

  • Extensive experience in the design and execution of Tier I and Tier II emergency response exercises.

  • Familiarity with emergency preparedness compliance task management for multiple regional Federal and State agencies.

  • Extensive experience and leadership duties working in an emergency planning and response capacity, such as with a company Incident Management Team, fire department, or state/federal agency.

  • Knowledgeable in the application and requirements of the National Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (NPREP).

  • Valid Driver's License is Required
