Growing IVF practice with a solid embryology team.

Summary

Performs technical laboratory procedures in the reproductive clinical laboratory. The embryologist assists with all laboratory duties related to IVF as needed and other duties as assigned by leadership within the laboratory.

Job Description

A sampling of some of the specialized procedures that may be performed includes, but is not limited to gamete preparation, embryo culture, cryopreservation, embryo micromanipulation, semen analysis. Knowledge of current laboratory procedures to perform laboratory tests and procedures, and to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation. Maintains a clean and sterile environment. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Will enter patient data and information into the electronic medical record. Works with adult patients seeking In Vitro Fertilization and participates in patient education related to specimen collection/handling.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a four year medical technologist degree, bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, medical technology, or related field.

Two years’ experience in In-Vitro-Fertilization (IVF), including micromanipulation preferred.

American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) and/or Association of Clinical Embryologists (ACE) certifications in embryology desirable.
