Role: Embedded Software Engineer

Join our dynamic ENT R&D team where cutting-edge technology meets rigorous validation. We are seeking a motivated Embedded Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of embedded systems for advanced Electrosurgical devices. This entry-level role involves working under moderate guidance to implement embedded software and interface with hardware components, ensuring alignment with project requirements and medical device standards. Internal relationships include collaboration with hardware engineers, project teams, and colleagues. External relationships may involve regulatory compliance aspects. The role focuses on embedded systems for Electrosurgical medical devices, with adherence to relevant standards.
What will you be doing?
- Embedded System Development: Assist in developing embedded software using C/C++ for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M) and System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms, focusing on specific modules (e.g., sensor interfacing, basic communication protocols like I2C or SPI).
- Hardware-Software Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with embedded systems, supporting initial debugging and testing.
- Optimization: Participate in optimizing embedded systems for power, memory, and performance under supervision, using development tools (e.g., Keil, IAR).
- Team Collaboration: Work within defined processes to meet project milestones, acting as a resource for basic technical support to colleagues.
- Documentation: Assist in generating documentation and adhering to version control practices (e.g., Git).
What will you need to be successful?
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Certification: Certifications like ISTQB Foundation Level.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in embedded systems or firmware development; or MS + 1 year. Some exposure to embedded programming is preferred.
- Basic proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with development tools (e.g., Keil, IAR) and basic debugging techniques.
- Understanding of hardware interfacing (e.g., sensors, actuators) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills for straightforward issues.
- Ability to follow standard procedures and collaborate within a team.
- Preferred: Exposure to real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS) or hardware schematics.
- Associate degree with additional coursework in engineering technology.
- Strong communication skills. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
