This position is part of Novanta’s Advanced Surgery business unit. Specialized in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine, WOM develops devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. We produce Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing that makes diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Our insufflators and pump systems dilate cavities in the body and turn previously complicated surgeries into minor procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate.

Summary

Develop and maintain software for medical devices, including requirements analysis, coding, testing, documentation, and compliance with standards, while supporting prototypes, students, and evaluating standard changes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Software development for medical devices
  • Requirements analysis based on specifications or other guidelines
  • Creation and review of software requirements
  • Creation of software modules
  • Conducting design and code reviews
  • Independent planning of tasks and support with team planning
  • Creation and execution of software tests
  • Analyzing and correcting software modules in the event of errors
  • Creating the necessary documentation
  • Applying software standards

Other tasks in the department

  • Collaboration in functional model/prototype construction
  • Support for students

General Tasks

  • Intensive cooperation within the development department and across the company
  • Participation in the development of company standards and their application
  • Initiating and actively participating in measures for process improvement, standardization, waste elimination, etc.
  • Active participation in the innovation process
  • Strict compliance with quality, occupational safety, and environmental regulations and implementation of instructions from quality/environmental management officers and occupational safety specialists

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics, systems engineering, automation technology, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of system development and software design
  • Expert in embedded software development in C++
  • Knowledge in QNX or other POSIX compliant systems

  • At least one completed project in software development

  • Confident use of software development tools and Microsoft Office
  • English fluency (GER-C1), Gernan is a plus
  • Desirable: Knowledge of electrical engineering and transmission protocols
  • Quality-conscious, trustworthy, and reliable
  • Willingness to travel to all locations and business contacts
