The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $23.00 and $28.17. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. The training for this position will be 5 days in office at the Denver Human Services Castro Location.
This position requires approximately 4 - 6 months of on-site, in-person training Monday through Friday weekly (City holidays exempted). Upon completion of training and passing all knowledge assessments, a hybrid schedule of approximately 3 days in-office and 2 days remote will be implemented.
During training, it is critical you are physically present for all classes and workshops.

The Eligibility Technician position is an introductory level position which determines eligibility for public assistance programs while receiving training in the applicable federal and state laws and county rules and regulations of financial eligibility. You will develop the knowledge and skills to interpret rules, policy and current practices, effectively interviewing clients, gather relevant information from available system resources and enter applicable information into a complex computer system.
Specifically, as an Eligibility Technician you will:
Manage a small caseload, requiring well developed time management skills
Demonstrate ability to work in a high-pressure environment with short deadlines
Commit to providing exceptional customer service and possesses a background of performing community service or a work history in working face-to face or over-the-phone with individuals from various multi-cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
Be an effective communicator; display excellent interpersonal skills, quickly grasp new concepts, and disseminate information accurately and quickly to Social Services applicants and recipients
Have well-developed work habits and exceptional skills using computers and the Microsoft suite of products (Teams, Excel, Word etc.)
Have experience crafting professional written communication both internal with colleagues as well as externally with clients
Have experience entering and managing accurate high-volume data in real time

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
The ability to work in a hybrid environment, at least three days a week in-person at the office
Ability to be discerning and empathetic in supporting a cliental from diverse backgrounds
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desire to learn and evolve your related professional skillsets through ongoing trainings
Experience in a human services field
Proven ability to be agile in a fast-paced working environment
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience performing specialized/technical office support work.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
