JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Eligibility Specialist determines initial and continuing eligibility for one or more of the following programs: Long Term Care, Adult Financial and Medical Assistance, Food Assistance, Family Medical, Colorado Child Care Assistance and Colorado Works. Interpret and apply county, state and Federal regulations and policies. Process and enter information using the Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS). Provide accurate and timely benefits to individuals and families. Adhere to stringent Federal and state guidelines.
SCHEDULE:
Please note, this is not a case management position.
This position is provided with a hybrid work environment. Some in-office work is required. Typically working 40 hours per week.
COMPENSATION:
Hiring Range: $21.50-$25 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Excellent customer service provided to internal and external customers and community members.
Review and clarify necessary information (via phone, mail, personal contact, and various reports) and take appropriate action within mandated time frames.
Ability to think critically and attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data entry and final eligibility results.
Effectively communicate face-to-face, in writing, and over the phone with customers, coworkers, and community partners.
Identify and assess customers' needs to provide clarification as well as appropriate solutions and alternatives.
Resolve customer complaints by determining the root cause and selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem.
Ability to be flexible to the changing business needs of the agency.
Awareness of and ability to educate customers on available resources in the community.
Identify and report potential fraud situations to the Investigations Unit.
Prepare and review legal documents for appeal hearings.
Effective organizational skills.
Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and on a team.
Troubleshoot system and case issues as needed.
Attend training and pass all required exams to maintain/enhance knowledge and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of one year related work experience
Education: High School Diploma or GED
*Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
Experience in Eligibility/Human services field is preferred.
Bilingual proficiency .
Employee must have the ability to understand and correctly apply State and Federal regulations while entering information into a complex computer system.
Strong empathy when engaging in customer service with clients who need patience and care.
Strong attention to detail and ability to use complex computer system with high accuracy.
Strong communication skills to be able to assist customers navigate through the system.
Strong organization skills and thrives under strict deadlines.
Ability to have difficult conversations with customers when the result is not favorable.
Thrive in a fast paced environment with frequent changes to program rules/guidelines.
Passion for helping community members and demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of the County and Human Services.
Additional Job Information:
Criminal History and MVR Background Checks are required for every position.
A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle shall have a Colorado Driver’s license within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
