The Eligibility Specialist primarily functions as a data specialist providing support to clients and internal staff in the auditing of billing and EDI data files in relation to our client’s employees and their supplemental insurance policies. You will also provide discrepancy resolution, data entry and testing on new clients being added into the enrollment and billing system or with changes needed to existing clients. This position requires skills in multiple aspects of data work including entry, analysis, and data management. The Eligibility Specialist will perform various tasks including database updates on both our enrollment and billing platforms, running reports and integrations within the systems, performing quality analysis evaluations and audits on data and system functionality often to ensure the accuracy of the database and reports as well as importing data from internal and external sources.

This position full-time and compensation is dependent upon experience.

Job Description

REPORTS TO:            Manager, EDI & Eligibility

FLSA STATUS:           Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:

  • Track production EDI deliverables across several clients and carriers.
  • Upload Insurance carrier invoices into billing system and run database crosscheck to identify discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve eligibility vs billing discrepancies.
  • Analyze file setup configurations and account structures.
  • Analyze EDI files for accuracy.
  • Database crosschecks.
  • Compare data against policy and proposal to identify discrepancies.
  • Process file imports and exports.
  • Process Error and Results reports received after file postings.
  • Process data entry corrections as needed.
  • Assistance with testing new and existing clients reporting after setup or as changes occur.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Excel knowledge is a necessity.
  • Data reconciliation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking skills, with an ability to critically examine processes to make improvements in efficiency and quality of service.
  • Willingness and aptitude to keep up with emerging technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior analytical reasoning, along with oral communication and phone skills.
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
  • Flexibility and adaptability; energetic and self-driven.
  • Experience in working with Benefit Enrollment / Benefit Administration Systems is a plus.
