Maureen Joy is looking to hire a Elementary (K-4) Physical Education teacher for the 2026-2027 School year.

Maureen Joy Charter School is accepting applications from joyful, passionate, creative, and dedicated Elementary Physical Education Teachers (grades K–4) who are committed to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Our K–8 school is dedicated to providing a rigorous academic program and a strong social-emotional foundation that nurtures and challenges each student to grow academically, socially, and personally.

As a member of our Enrichment Team, the Elementary School Physical Education teacher:
Develops and Implements Curriculum for K-4th grade:
- Uses NC Physical Education and Health Standards
- Demonstrates openness and enthusiasm about applying feedback to enhance practice.
- Embodies a joyful and warm approach to students, passionately embracing the academic and emotional needs of each student daily.
- Displays the ability to differentiate instruction based on the diverse needs of students.
Builds a Strong Classroom and School-Wide Culture:
- Sets clear academic and behavior expectations for students in order to create a positive environment and maximize learning.
- Flexibility to work in a wide variety of settings and shared facilities.
- Collaborates with the Enrichment Team to create and implement systems of routines.
- Collaborates with the enrichment teachers on the creation and implementation of enrichment initiatives, such as our annual Field Day.

Coaching:
Every teacher at Maureen Joy, regardless of prior teaching experience, receives an instructional coach who has demonstrated a track record of excellence in the classroom. Your coach observes and meets with you regularly as a part of the school's observation/feedback cycle. Our overall coaching model focuses on improvement over evaluation and we take joy in seeing both our scholars AND teachers grow throughout the year.
