Job Summary: You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Information Technology & Cyber Security Department (Code 109) of PSNS and IMF.

Major Duties:

  • You will assist with providing development-level electronics technician duties involving installation maintenance, repair, and proving work status for all applicable areas of CCTV and other video monitoring equipment.
  • You will be responsible for the analysis, testing, operations, and development of new technologies integration and maintenance of systems security to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • You will participate in the installation, fabrication, testing and evaluation/research and development, sustainment, and troubleshooting new or modified security systems.
  • You will apply fundamental electronics technician methods, principles, and practices of electrical and electronic test equipment such as multi-meters, function generators, mega-ohm meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes and cable testers.
  • You will analyze the compatibility of interlocking components and systems.
  • You will independently plan for installation and testing of security systems along interpreting policies and guidelines.
  • You will be evaluating equipment, performance under varying environmental conditions; collection data; and developing or evaluating new or modified systems or monitoring frequency emissions by licensed stations.
  • You will assist with developing and designing test and repairing equipment, installing complex systems and associated facilities; designing and associated facilities; designing and analyzing circuits; and determining feasibility of these designs.
  • You will assist with/participate in the practices of schematic diagrams, drawing, and sketches; a variety of test equipment; fundamental electronics technician methods, and proper conduit bending and wiring techniques for electrical or installation.

Qualifications: GS-09: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing electronic techniques and/or methodologies to support decision making, problem solving or technique improvements for the optimization of vessel electronic system maintenance and repairs.
