Join our Product Development team in Royston as an Electronics System Engineer.

We are looking for an Electronics System Engineer to join our Product Development team at Sartorius in the UK. In this role, you will be responsible for developing electronics solutions, firmware to apply them in a novel way to develop new products and implement product improvements. 

The team currently consists of 6 professionals, and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you.  

This position is available full-time. You will be based at our Royston site, with hybrid working available.

Grow with us – Your Responsibilities  

  • On a daily basis you will design, develop, commission and test:

    • embedded software/firmware to provide machine control solutions.

    • electronic solutions to provide machine control and signal conditioning functionality for new and existing products.

  • Develop technologies to interface between hardware and software elements of our products

  • Collaborate with project team members to develop interface protocols

  • Provide support and training for machine control sub-systems across all of our products

  • Contribute to and organise design reviews with peers and other groups from across the business

What will convince us 

  • BSc or MSc in Electronics with Embedded Software Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Experience of firmware design for machine control and automation purposes

  • Developing firmware for ARM based microcontrollers

  • C / C++ and embedded software using both RTOS and Super Loop architectures

  • Electrical/electronic communication protocols and hardware, such as RS232, RS422, RS485, USB and Ethernet

  • Analogue electronics design including small signal handling and processing for input into microcontrollers

  • Using electronic CAD packages for schematic capture and PCBA layout

  • Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics design

  • Strong planning skills

  • Natural ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team

  • Adaptable, self-motivated and proactive team player with good problem-solving skills
