Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF), Position Description Number D1071000 and is part of the PA Eastern Army Aviation Training Site, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Major Duties:

  • As an Electronics Mechanic (Small Shop Chief), WG-2604-12, you will plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop, which, is then completed, by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Perform the full range of shop work. Perform in-process, final inspection, and clear status symbols certifying work performed by others in shop. Implement safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepare for, and participate in, various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Eastern Army Aviation Training Site AOC 2: NG Employees in the State Army Aviation Office (This includes AASF 1, AASF 2, and EAATS) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Grades: ENLISTED E1-E8 Supervisor for this position is 1SG Rarick *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.
