The primary purpose of this position is to apply technical work and professional electronics engineering skills in radio frequency (RF) & infrared (IR) spectrums to modeling and simulation systems that support high end advanced training and developmental and operational test and evaluation (DT&E and OT&E).

Specialized experience includes: knowledge of a wide range of electronics engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods sufficient to determine and/or execute actions for a wide range of assignments involving combinations of complex features; knowledge of engineering standards and methods to formulate, execute, advise on, and explain recommendations of solutions to modify standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and techniques and resolve a wide variety of complex problems. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. Ideal Candidate: Desired skills include: 1 year of experience in computer programming desired. 1 year of experience with Linux Operating Systems. 1 year of experience controlling or supporting aircraft operations or test. 1 year of experience with Joint Simulation Environment operations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple interrelated and integrated technical and test engineering disciplines applied to human-in-the-loop simulators of advanced aircraft weapon systems (4th, 5th gen and beyond). Ability to apply advanced RF, IR and communications expertise to develop and operate test events for complex integrated live, virtual and constructive battlespace test events. 2. Technical knowledge of combat aircraft avionics, armament, electronic warfare systems, and related subsystems, including mission planning systems and procedures. Technical knowledge of air surveillance, early warning, target tracking, and target engagement radars; electronic warfare techniques and countermeasures; and IR tracking, jamming and countermeasure capabilities. 3. Technical knowledge of RF and IR waveform emissions; ability to incorporate emissions properties into various virtual and constructive simulation models. 4. Knowledge of combat air vehicles, EO/IR/RF weapons & sensors, EW, and signature management with respect to operational flight test planning, execution, and data reduction. Proficient in flight test conduct, coordination, supervision, and data analysis/evaluation as compared with applicable truth sources and model data. Experienced in technical report generation and administrative aspects of flight test programs. Skilled in the use of a variety of computer applications and software, to include high fidelity simulators, sufficient to meet desired test objectives and demonstrate/employ flying procedures and maneuvers in mission training and test events. 5. Ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various electrical/electronic/aerospace/mechanical engineering and test disciplines; coordinate with USAF, USN, DOD, other federal government agencies, and defense contractors. Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend accurate, timely, and economical solutions. 6. Ability to maintain good working relations and to provide technical leadership and project management oversight and communicate effectively with a broad range of personnel both orally and in writing and to use modern computer software applications in support of communications and presentations. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
