Job Summary: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off of Interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTROMOTIVE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common repair and overhauls Alternating Current/Direct Current (AC/DC) electrical driven warehouse equipment. I can replace head gaskets and timing belts/chains on electromotive equipment. Remove rebuilds and installs hydraulic cylinders such as tilt, stirring, side and main lifting cylinders. Answer service calls. Make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment in field/shop location as needed. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Work assignments involve bench work, standing, sitting and sometimes bending and occasional work in cramped and awkward positions while working on equipment. Work performed frequently requires the lifting of items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. Work outside is normally done in good weather, however emergency situations sometimes require outside assignments during inclement weather. Work in shop is performed in building that is moderately heated, lighted, and ventilated. The floor is of concrete and causes fatigue from long periods of standing. Incumbent is exposed to dirt, grease, odor, and fumes of motors and is subject to cuts and abrasions from use of tools and equipment. Assignments also involve a thorough knowledge of hazardous materiel handling and related activities. Incumbent is required to successfully complete a variety of hazardous material classes. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes from spills and/or leaks and Incumbent may be required to wear protective clothing (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.). Work is normally performed in shop that is moderately heated, lighted, and ventilated. This factor is considered substantially the same as the WG-08 Level of reference.
