Job Description:

This position performs skilled electrical work of a journeyman level in the installation, repair modification, and troubleshooting of electrical wiring and distribution systems on all voltages up to including 480 volts for all campus facilities. 

Job Duties:

35%- Installs, alters, maintains and repairs various wiring systems including their components such as receptacles, switches, power supply transformers, conduit. and etc. in buildings, including building electrical feeders on all voltages up to and including 480 volts. 

20%- Installs, replaces, and maintains all of lighting systems and lighting system components such as changing fluorescent and incandescent lamps, ballasts, flood lamps, exit lights, lighting fixtures, etc.

15%- Installs and maintains telephone wiring, computer co-ax and twin ax communication cable and etc., including attachment of connectors for use on individual and computer network systems, television and other communication systems. 

12%- Reads, interprets, and works from prints and electrical circuit schematics.

10%- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems in interlocked circuits, motors, motor starters, switchgear, and other controls and equipment for items such as pumps, compressors, air handlers, chillers, etc. that operate on voltages up to and including 480 volts. 

5%- Performs other duties as required.

3%- Assists and works with other crafts as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: Three years of experience or training in the electrical trade.

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. 
In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure. 
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, stoop, squat, kneel and bend their back, climb ladders, and work reaching overhead.
