Job Summary:

Job Duties:

Bucknell University is seeking an Electrician I or II who will install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems. In addition, the Electrician will complete campus work orders.

Reporting Relationships / Direct Reports:

Both the Electrician I and II report to the Electrical Supervisor

Work Setting:  

On-campus

Work Schedule:

This position is generally scheduled to work during day shift hours, Monday - Friday. This position is classified as essential services, and may be required to work when the campus is closed.

What You Will Do:


Electrician I

  • Completes electrical repairs requested through Bucknell’s work order system

  • Upgrades lighting & systems for energy savings and sustainability

  • Repairs electrical components on appliances & equipment

  • Trains to maintain emergency systems, including standby power generators and emergency egress systems

  • Replaces batteries on door access, fire panels & emergency equipment

  • Non-essential functions: The listed responsibilities and tasks are not exhaustive; Additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Electrician II

  • Completes electrical repairs requested through Bucknell’s work order system

  • Maintains and tests emergency systems, including standby power generators and emergency egress systems

  • Completes new construction installations & collaborates with other building trades to repair complex systems

  • Performs preventative maintenance on university electrical systems; Orders parts for repair and maintenance

  • Upgrades lighting & systems for energy savings and sustainability

  • Supports campus events requiring electrical needs

  • Non-essential functions: The listed responsibilities and tasks are not exhaustive; Additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed

What You Will Bring:

Electrician I Required:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of two years of related experience

Electrician I Preferred, But Not Required:

  • Vocational or Technical degree in electrical maintenance, systems, or construction

  • A minimum of four years of electrical maintenance experience

Electrician II Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of four years of related experience

Electrician II Preferred, But Not Required:

  • Vocational or Technical degree in electrical maintenance, systems, or construction

  • A minimum of six years of electrical maintenance experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Outdoor work with daily exposure to a variety of weather conditions

  • May experience frequent exposure to a high level of noise

  • Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts of machinery or tools used to perform work, moving vehicles

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, or more, without assistance

  • May be exposed to conditions that affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation

Salary Range:

Electrician I: $21.17 - $26.46

Electrician II: $24.35 - $30.44

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy. 

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
