Electrician - Weekends
The Electrician installs, services, maintains and repairs electrical equipment and appliances (i.e. motors, electrical stoves, fire alarms, power systems, etc).
Maintains, services and repairs operating room electrical services, electrical plant, as related to electrical systems, ventilation fans and pneumatic tubes.
Operates and assists contractors and Con Edison with high tension voltage (15 kilovolt) electrical equipment to serve the Hospital. Operates emergency systems including generators, fuel systems, battery systems and fixed control systems. Tests, maintains, operates and installs all electrical components and systems. Checks circuit overloads and replaces fuses, lights, etc. Repairs, services and replaces motors associated with mechanical equipment. Responds to fire alarms and resets fire alarm systems as required. Maintains and works on the Pneumatic Tube System. Maintains shops and equipment rooms in safe and clean conditions. When required, must perform live electrical work in compliance with the most current National Fire Protection Association 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70E).
This is a full time day, Saturday - Wednesday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, position located at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Required Criteria
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of three of experience as an electrician
New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems S-95
Variable work shifts
Knowledge of New York City and National Electrical Codes
Working knowledge of Electrical Safety, OSHA Safety Practices and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE
