About the role

AGL’s Macquarie team based at the Bayswater Power Station are looking for several Electrical Tradesperson's to support the safe, efficient and reliable operation of one of Australia’s largest power generation sites.

In this role, you’ll play an important part in maintaining critical plant and equipment to ensure the station continues operating safely and at peak performance.

Roster: Tuesday to Friday – Dayshift – 6:30am to 4:45pm (4‑day week)

Location: Bayswater Power Station (Muswellbrook) in the Upper Hunter.

This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role that blends electrical maintenance, fault‑finding, problem‑solving and safe work practices within a large industrial power generation environment.

What you will be doing

  • Carry out routine, outage and unplanned breakdown maintenance on electrical plant and equipment

  • Apply technical trade skills to ensure plant reliability and availability

  • Diagnose and resolve equipment faults, using manuals, drawings and technical instructions

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure secure storage

  • Keep work areas clean, safe and compliant with environmental and safety requirements

  • Minimise rework by completing repairs to a high standard

  • Contribute to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement

  • Use corporate IT systems, including Outlook, SharePoint and SAP for maintenance tasks

  • Report all safety incidents or near misses to support continuous improvement

  • Prepare Risk Assessments and conduct safety checks prior to commencing work

  • Work safely at all times in accordance with Power Station Safety Rules and PPE requirements

  • Supervise apprentices as required, providing guidance and assessing work quality

What you will bring

You’re a reliable, safety‑minded tradesperson with strong technical capability and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary maintenance team.

  • Trade Certificate in Electrical discipline

  • Experience in a similar heavy industry or manufacturing/processing environment

  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities

  • Proven safety record and commitment to safe work practices

  • Ability to understand and apply safety rules, policies and procedures

  • Ability to coach and support apprentices or new trades staff

  • Competence with Microsoft Office and integrated systems such as SAP

  • Flexible, adaptable approach with the ability to respond to changing work demands
