Collins Aerospace, Generator and Emergency Power Test Equipment, is seeking an Electrical Engineer Summer and Fall 2026 Co-op. The candidate would need to be able to take the fall semester off.  The candidate will be responsible for developing test equipment and test setups for development and production of aircraft power generation components.  The Test Equipment group supports both test facilities and programs through the entire life cycle of development to production.  This is a job that always has a new challenge as Collins Aerospace continues to invent the future of aircraft electric power systems.

The candidate must be an analytical thinker and be adept at design, build, and checkout of test setups.  The candidate must have experience working with instrumentation, data recording, and design of electrical systems and harnesses.  This position will function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, and will support our generator test labs and wind tunnels through the development of new Test Equipment and the support of Production Test Equipment.  The ideal candidate will be a creative member of the team who will assist in developing the vision for upgrading our test equipment to the latest technology. This role is onsite, in Rockford, IL. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

  • You will provide Electrical Test Setup support and do Electrical Test Setup Troubleshooting.
  • You will work with Test Operators to coordinate Test Setups and will be collecting Test Performance Data.
  • You will assist in Facility upgrade projects.
  • You will assist in design of Test Stand Safety Interlocks.
  • You will create electrical schematics to document designs.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will gain the ability to interpret new product validation requirements and determine appropriate testing procedures.
  • You will design/build/verify test setups associated with aircraft electrical power generation.
  • You will gain experience in creating electrical schematics, installation of harnessing and data acquisition hardware and the design/build of equipment utilized in the testing process.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Exposure and or experience with circuit design, wiring harnesses, etc.
  • Ability to work with test operators to modify and setup test equipment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Hands-on experience is a plus.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
