About the Role

ConnectSydney, a joint venture of ServiceStreamBoral, and Johnson Controls, in partnership with Transport for NSW, is entrusted with the management of the Harbour Zone.

We have an opportunity available for a talented individual to join us as an Electrical Technician. You will be responsible for planned maintenance, major and minor upgrades on our network, fault finding and incident response, and repairs across a diverse range of asset classes such as traffic control signals (TCS), variable message signs (VMS), traffic monitoring units (TMU), variable speed limit signs (VSLS) school signs and street lighting, On-site training provided along with working in pairs on your day to day job, with occasional solo work.

When rostered you will be required to work a day shift, afternoon shift and night shift, you will also be required to do weekend callouts over a 24-hour period, which includes planned and emergency generator connects and disconnects, emergency response, additional allowances will be provided to cover weekend callouts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for inspections and repairs for TfNSW roadside devices and equipment, ensuring accurate record updates and scheduled maintenance.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety policy and environmental standards and manage timekeeping for individual and work teams.
  • As a technician you will take responsibility for effectively managing your own and small works team’s daily task.
  • Leading daily tasks for individual and partner, addressing any asset faults, incidents, and customer complaints along with investigating and repairing electronic devices
  • Report on and liaise with other stakeholders when required and work collaboratively with all internal and external staff members of Connect Sydney.
  • You are expected to work two weeks of dayshift 6am – 2pm, one week of afternoon shift 2pm – 10pm, one week of nightshift 10pm – 6am on a 16 week rotating roster. This will also include 6 weekends rostered on call for 24hr period.

    About You:

    • NSW valid supervisors or contractors electrical licence
    • Current valid driver’s licence 
    • General Construction Induction Card 

    Desirable, but not essential:

    • Authorised traffic controller
    • Communications cabling and fiibre accreditations
    • High Risk Work licence (WP)
    • Safe Working at Heights
    • First Aid, CPR and LVR
    • PLC and/or communications networking certificate
    • EWP license
    • MR truck licence

    Connect Sydney will provide:

    • On site training with all assets
    • First Aid, CPR & LVR yearly (or as required)
    • EWP license training opportunity
