Job Description:
Your New Role
The Electrical Systems Engineer will be responsible to the Electrical Engineering Manager for the investigation of maintenance and safety related defects and subsequent engineering solutions to ensure contractual reliability targets are achieved and maintenance practices implemented / improved. You will also be responsible for activities relating to design modifications and subsequent applications for customer / regulatory approval for changes

Essential Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Engineering degree (i.e. BSc, BEng or MEng / MSc) in relevant engineering discipline or the ability to demonstrate degree level working
Excellent knowledge of a selection of electrical systems, both technically and operationally.
Excellent knowledge of electrical engineering principles, relevant standards, codes of practices and design principles / practices; particularly in UK Rolling Stock.
Proven experience at delivering complex electrical solutions in a Rolling Stock environment.
Comfortable with ‘hands on’ engineering for on-train investigations when needed.
Sound understanding of health and safety requirements in a practical working environment.
Behavioural
Ability to work with minimal supervision, to clear targets and deliverables, and within a tight project support environment.
Ability to work under own initiative.
Have a strong command of the English language.
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Commitment to working as part of a team.
Commitment to the effective implementation of equal opportunities policies.
Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations.
Able to always represent Hitachi in a professional manner.
Position holder must be able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
Desirable
Experience in the Railway Industry;
Professional Registration with relevant Engineering Institution (e.g. IEng, CEng with IMechE, IET etc.
Knowledge of the UK Railway Operations and Engineering Safety Management System;
