Electrical Reliability Engineer

​Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for your next challenge to showcase your skillset as a specialist? If so, we’re looking for you! We are hiring an Electrical Reliability Engineer to support our Fort Hills' Reliability team in Calgary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of technical or operational experience with a minimum of 3 years directly supporting plant reliability

  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a Professional Engineer

  • A sound understanding of the asset strategy and master data development process

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems

  • Knowledge of design, maintenance, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment as per IEEE, CSA, NFPA and NETA standards

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with keen attention to detail

  • Experience with reliability tools such as failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), reliability centered maintenance (RCM), and root cause analysis (RCA)

  • HAZOP and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) experience

  • Experience with management of change (MOC) process and workflow

                                   

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and optimize equipment strategies for electrical equipment

  • Provide solutions for bad actor resolution including life cycle assessments, procedural changes, equipment strategy improvements, and equipment design changes

  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) efforts for the electrical discipline

  • Provide technical support for sustaining and major projects

  • Engage stakeholders and work across functions to ensure engineered solutions meet the long-term needs of the business unit

  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and develop corrective actions to mitigate recurrence

  • Develop asset performance monitoring plans for early failure detection

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

  • Occasional travel to Fort Hills site required
