Job Summary:

The Electrical Planner and Scheduler is responsible for planning and coordinating all electrical maintenance activities within a glass mat manufacturing facility. This role bridges maintenance, operations, and engineering by organizing resources, materials, and timelines for efficient execution of electrical work. It will also focus on minimizing downtime, improving equipment performance, and supporting continuous, safe production.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed job plans for electrical maintenance tasks (preventive, predictive, and corrective)
  • Manage electrical critical spare parts for the plant and cycle count inventory
  • Estimate labor, materials, spare parts, and tools required for each job
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with production to avoid disrupting continuous operations
  • Ensure all parts, life critical permits, and relevant documents are prepared before execution
  • Maintain and update CMMS (Maximo) with accurate job plans, asset data, and electrical spare parts.
  • Prioritize work orders based on safety, environmental impact, and production criticality
  • Plan and coordinate major shutdowns and maintenance outages working with the mechanical planner/ scheduler.
  • Track schedule compliance and adjust plans based on plant conditions
  • Working with the reliability engineer to analyze electrical equipment failures and maintenance data to improve reliability
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance technicians, and engineering teams
  • Ensure electrical parts are according to local electrical codes, OSHA standards, and plant safety procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in electrical maintenance/storeroom systems for industrial/manufacturing environments
  • Experience in continuous process industries (glass, fiberglass, paper, steel, or similar preferred)
  • Hands-on knowledge of industrial electrical systems
  • Technical Skills
  • Component knowledge of:
  • PLC systems (Siemens Preferred)
  • Motor controls, VFDs, and instrumentation
  • Continuous process controls (burners, conveyors, pumps, motors, sensors)
  • Industrial automation systems
  • Experience using CMMS systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirements and skills needed to complete a job. Must have a demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentational) skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the maintenance processes and proper use of the work order system, planning and scheduling and storeroom processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word with an emphasis on technical writing.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis
  • Effective communication across departments
  • Strong safety awareness
