We are seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience with powder coatings production equipment, plant automation, and process instrumentation. The role will provide exposure to electrical systems, PLCs, sensors, and controls while supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement projects. This internship is ideal for students eager to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world manufacturing setting focused on powder coatings technology.
Key Responsibilities
Powder Coatings Equipment Support:
Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems for powder coatings production, including: extruders, cooling belts, and milling systems, feeders, mixers, and conveying equipment, curing ovens, spray booths, and automated handling systems
Support PLC and HMI operations, minor logic adjustments, and control panel monitoring
Observe and participate in preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment reliability tasks
Instrumentation & Process Monitoring:
Assist in the installation, calibration, and testing of process sensors and instrumentation, including temperature, pressure, flow, and level sensors, load cells, weight scales, and monitoring devices
Participate in loop checks, sensor troubleshooting, and data collection to support process control
Electrical & Controls Support:
Help review and update wiring diagrams, control schematics, and equipment documentation
Collaborate with engineers and technicians to identify electrical or control issues and suggest improvements
Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety practices
Projects & Continuous Improvement:
Support small-scale projects or upgrades to improve equipment reliability and automation performance
Participate in data analysis and reporting to support continuous improvement initiatives
Assist with commissioning, testing, and documentation of new or modified equipment
Qualifications:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
Basic knowledge of electrical systems, control principles, and industrial instrumentation
Interest in PLCs, automation, sensors, and process control
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in both plant-floor and office settings, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Preferred:
Exposure to industrial automation, SCADA, PLC programming, or powder coatings equipment
Coursework or hands-on experience in sensors, instrumentation, or electrical circuits
Familiarity with industrial electrical safety codes and best practices
