Job Description:

Electrical Engineering Owner’s Representative (Data Centre Project Management)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience involved in the design, planning, and managing electrical systems for datacenter new development and infrastructure fit-out projects. You will be representing the owner and/or tenants of the project and be responsible for troubleshooting and advising on engineering design, constructability, commissioning issues related to the project. You will be a key member of our team, and ensure the successful delivery of electrical systems for the data centre project.

You’ll be comfortable working with others and remotely managing stakeholders from diverse and cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement electrical systems for newbuild data center projects, adhering to industry standards and best practices.

  • Prepare electrical engineering specifications, technical drawings, and construction documents, including schematic diagrams, single-line diagrams, and equipment layouts.

  • Evaluate and select electrical equipment and components, ensuring compatibility with project requirements and optimal performance.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to assess the viability and efficiency of electrical systems, proposing improvements and upgrades when necessary.

  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, reviewing contractor submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications and electrical codes.

  • Perform electrical load calculations, power distribution analysis, and fault current calculations to ensure equipment sizing and system reliability.

  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into overall project plans.

  • Participate in commissioning activities, performing electrical system tests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring proper functionality and performance.

  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to electrical systems, and apply this knowledge to improve design and implementation processes.

Requirements:

  • Fluent in Native Malaysian  and English

  • Applicants should have valid working status in Japan.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in designing and managing electrical systems for data centre newbuilds and infrastructure fit-out projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and practices.

  • Proficiency in electrical design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, Revit).

  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, including medium voltage, low voltage, and emergency backup systems.

  • Experience with lighting design, power distribution, and fire alarm systems for infrastructure fit-out projects.

  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and regulations, including NFPA, NEC, and local codes.

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver projects on schedule.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders.
