Job Description

The Electrical Engineering Lead is responsible for the integrity, reliability, and optimization of all electrical power systems across STT GDC Philippines' data center operations. This role directly supports engineering, project execution, and maintenance management by ensuring that critical power infrastructure (HV/MV, UPS, Gensets, DC Power) meets contractual obligations, global performance standards, and company quality requirements. The Lead function emphasizes technical governance, strategic planning, design analysis, and overall ownership of the electrical ecosystem.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient power infrastructure from utility interconnection and 115 kV GIS substations down to rack-level distribution, in full compliance with the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) and STT GDC Global Engineering Standards. The position governs design and construction validation, project management, protection coordination, power quality management, energy management and lifecycle maintenance of all electrical assets. The EE Lead also provides stamping authority for electrical drawings and acts as Engineer of Record for internal and statutory submissions.

 Strategic Planning, Risk Assessment & Compliance Monitoring

  • Conducts comprehensive risk assessments and monitors site operations against environmental, energy, occupational safety, mechanical, and electrical standards in order to identify, evaluate, and mitigate compliance risks.

  • Develop a strategic electrical management plan aligning with long-term engineering expansion and operational goals. Identify and mitigate risks related to vendor lock-in, electrical supply chain disruptions, and non-compliance with EHS or security requirements.

Technical Standards & SLA Management

  • Define, negotiate, and finalize technical performance metrics (KPIs) for electrical vendors (e.g., 99.99% Uptime, MTBF, and MTTR). Lead end-to-end performance reviews for electrical maintenance contracts, analyzing trends and recommending technical adjustments.

Technical Design, Governance & Documentation

  • Conduct comprehensive electrical system design and rigorous assessments of existing installations. Lead technical scoping and crafting of Terms of Reference (TOR) and Employer's Requirements. Review and enforce proper system and protection discrimination (selectivity) in all design submissions.

Compliance Program Development & Implementation

  • Designs and implements risk and compliance programs in order to ensure continuous regulatory adherence and embed a culture of compliance across the organization.

Inspection, Investigation & Corrective Action

  • Leads facility inspections and compliance investigations, ensuring root causes are addressed and preventive actions are applied in order to safeguard operations and prevent recurrence of violations.

Supplier Selection & Due Diligence

  • Lead cross-functional supplier selection (Engineering, Project Delivery, Legal, Finance) for critical power infrastructure. Conduct technical capability assessments on potential suppliers, evaluating their proficiency in construction management and design execution.

  • Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represents the company in interactions with regulators and external parties in order to maintain compliance, build trust, and ensure successful external audits.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Must be a Licensed/Registered Electrical Engineer

  • Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) status is highly desirable

  • Knowledge of ISO 50001 (Energy Management) and ISO 50002 (Energy Audit) is an advantage

  • Certified Risk Management Professional (preferred)

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, specifically in data center, IT infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities, industrial sectors or facilities management

  • Proven experience in managing high-availability power systems and large-scale infrastructure projects
