About the project

The East Rockingham Waste-to-Energy Project is a landmark facility in Western Australia that converts municipal and commercial waste into renewable energy. It will process up to 300,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating sustainable electricity for thousands of homes while reducing landfill. ACCIONA is delivering this complex infrastructure project with cutting-edge technology and a strong focus on environmental outcomes.

About the opportunity

Successfully lead Engineering teams under your control and provide safe, efficient, profitable, compliant and innovative performance; The Mechanical Engineer will lead the Mechanical team and its associated contractors, and when required deputise for the E&M Manager. Lead in the implementation and monitoring of systems and processes through good practice to maximise the process and ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance on a 24 hour shift system. Build and maintain relationships with colleagues to ensure effective communication across the site.  You will be required to be totally flexible and carry out other duties identified from time to time ensuring site objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Leading Engineering teams and deploy progression support to develop high performing teams with a culture centred on delivering outstanding performance and plant availability.
  • Support of safe working processes and implementation of safety systems.
  • Management of contractors and control of their work areas.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to technical personnel responsible for individual and team performance management and ensure that the team has adequate resources to carry out its functions.
  • Ensure that each site complies with, and achieves, all the contractual and performance obligations under the relevant contract/s.
  • Lead on all Asset management and Maintenance activities to completion within the required agreed timeframes.
  • Ensure that Acciona broad objectives and policies in relation to Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems are successfully implemented and ensure that the Operations Team is engendered with a safety-first culture.
  • Preparation of submissions and reports and KPI’s.
  • Work with other Engineers & Technicians to develop strategic plans for facility availability and implement strategies as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mining, Heavy Industry or equivalent
  • 5+ Industrial experience
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience in working closely with large and diverse project teams.
