The Maritime System Solutions (MSS) Portfolio within the Leidos Maritime Systems Division is looking for an Electrical Engineer to support a talented team in designing and delivery of next-generation maritime solutions. From unmanned underwater vehicles to advanced sensor systems, your engineering will shape capabilities that protect and advance U.S. interests around the globe.

Why Join Us

  • Work with cutting-edge subsea technologies that few engineers get to experience firsthand.
  • Collaborate with world-class scientists, engineers, and innovators across the U.S.
  • Perform on programs that support the wide variety of high-profile customers.
  • Be part of a culture that values innovation, technical excellence, and mission impact.

Key Aspects of the Position

  • Design, analyze, and document electrical power components and systems.
  • Follow developed product development through design, build, test, and installation.
  • Integrate design and process improvements to new and existing systems.
  • Work collaboratively within an experienced team to provide technical expertise to design, develop, integrate, and test electrical components and subsystems.
  • Effort is performed in a “system” construct and responds to relevant performance and interface requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Analyze, simulate, design, construct and test electronics for digital and analog circuitry in systems requiring custom signal processing, amplification, power management and conversion.
  • Evaluate, select, specify, design, modify, test, and/or integrate sensors, cables, connectors, power subsystems (including batteries).
  • Generate and maintain engineering drawings in support of manufacturing, review and create engineering change orders (ECOs), as required per ISO9001:2015 policies.
  • Develop project test plans and test procedures, provide test planning support, and assist in the execution of both lab testing and at-sea testing.
  • Conduct experimental tests on equipment, evaluate results, and develop specifications for deliverable systems.
  • Contributes to customer development, test and production activities.

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field with 4-8 years of related experience in electrical/electronic hardware design, integration and system level test, and production of systems. Alternately, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field with 2+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience with Altium Designer or similar circuit design tools.
  • Experience in Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design including analog, digital, mixed signal, or high voltage designs (> 1kV).
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, VISIO, and LTSpice software packages.
  • Experienced in the operation of electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies, function generators, insulation resistance testers, etc.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work without close supervision.

  • Ability to take a system-of-systems approach to understand requirements and produce reliable, robust designs.
  • Experience with optics, optical telemetry and electro-optic components.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with conversion topologies including Flyback, Buck, PFC, resonant converters, LLC and analog/digital controls loops.
  • Experience with coding and debugging in C/C++, firmware development in VHDL/Verilog, familiarity with the Xilinx toolchain, or Python Scripting.
  • Development of test software and scripts on Linux/Windows environments.

SUBSEAMSS

Come break things (in a good way). Then build them smarter.

We're the tech company everyone calls when things get weird. We don’t wear capes (they’re a safety hazard), but we do solve high-stakes problems with code, caffeine, and a healthy disregard for “how it’s always been done.”
