Raytheon’s Optics Hardware team in McKinney, TX is hiring for a hands-on role in building and integrating next-generation sensor systems that support critical aerospace and defense missions. In this role, you’ll work in a fast-paced lab and clean room environment alongside electrical, optical, and mechanical engineers to bring complex hardware to life—from subassembly bench testing, to initial assembly test and troubleshooting, to system integration and delivery. If you enjoy working with real hardware, solving tough problems, and seeing your work move from concept to customer, this is an opportunity to make a direct impact.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to integrate and test electronics hardware at the subassembly and system level
  • Perform hardware safety checks, initial checkout and power-on, and support integration through system-level and qualification testing
  • Troubleshoot hardware and system-level issues using lab equipment and engineering documentation
  • Support development, build, and test activities for complex systems, including preparation for delivery to customers
  • Assist in system integration activities across hardware, firmware, and software components
  • Work with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and emulator systems to support integration and test environments
  • Execute test procedures, collect data, and evaluate hardware performance against requirements
  • Document test results, integration activities, and issues; contribute to technical briefings and status updates
  • Work in lab and clean room environments handling sensitive hardware systems
  • Support cross-functional efforts with electrical, mechanical, optical, and software engineering teams
  • Participate in internal and customer-facing demonstrations as needed
  • This position may require occasional business-related travel

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in a lab environment integrating and testing electronics hardware
  • Experience performing hardware bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Experience interpreting engineering documentation such as schematics, block diagrams, or memory maps

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience working in low-volume, high-complexity development or production environments
  • Experience with FPGA, SoC, or microcontroller-based systems
  • Experience using MATLAB for data analysis or test support
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., DDR, flash memory, or multi-gigabit transceivers)
  • Experience working in Agile development environments using tools such as JIRA
  • Exposure to optical or imaging systems
  • Exposure to Linux-based operating systems and command line interfaces
