The Role

As an Electrical Diagnostician, you will serve as the plant’s point of contact for complex wiring and electrical issues impacting General Assembly, with a primary focus on wire harness health and end-of-line (EOL) electrical quality. You will work hands-on in the plant alongside the Electrical Team, Material, Ergonomics, and Product Engineering to contain issues quickly and protect electrical first-time quality (E-FTQ) and other plant performance metrics. You will coordinate supplier and engineering responses, manage engineering updates, and ensure that wiring installation, connections, and repairs are performed to standard. In this role, you will use data, diagnostic tools, and your deep understanding of vehicle electrical architecture to drive problem resolution and continuous improvement for our customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the single point contact for all wiring and electrical diagnostic concerns impacting the assembly plant, ensuring clear ownership and timely issue resolution.
  • Support achieving plant E-FTQ and other quality metrics by providing expert troubleshooting and sufficiency for wiring and electrical repair issues.
  • Partner with GA repair, problem solvers, and the plant Electrical Team to diagnose, repair, and root cause wiring harness and electrical issues, using 3D math data and diagnostic logs where appropriate.
  • Create, implement, and execute audits and standardized work for harness installation, connections, and repairs, ensuring processes are understood and consistently followed.
  • Coordinate with Product Engineers, Manufacturing Software Integration Engineers, suppliers, and cross‑functional partners to contain, document, and track issues.
  • Support both steady state and launch activities, learning new products, validating changes, and communicating engineering updates and supplier feedback to production teams and VAAs.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, electrical diagnostics, or related vehicle electrical systems work.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harness design/installation, and basic quality system concepts in a plant environment.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to interpret test data, fault codes, and harness measurements to drive root cause.
  • Proven ability to make timely decisions with a high level of confidence in a fast-paced manufacturing setting while escalating appropriately for safety and ergonomic concerns.
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional partners and translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable summaries.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Previous manufacturing plant experience in Electrical or Plant Floor Operations, especially supporting GA repair, EOL diagnostics, or wiring harness processes.
  • Deep working knowledge of quality and manufacturing systems such as GSIP, GEPICS, MERS, PRTS, SPPS, GMS, and BIQ4 deliverables.
  • Hands-on experience with service diagnostic tools and data (e.g., GDS2/MDI, CAN bus logs, snapshots, fault files) to support advanced troubleshooting and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading training on vehicle electrical systems, wiring installation/repair, and diagnostic tools for Team Leaders, repair personnel, or cross‑functional partners.
  • Advanced statistical analysis and continuous improvement skills, including experience driving structured problem-solving and documenting corrective actions.
  • Experience writing or maintaining plant quality standards or PQS related to wiring/electrical processes.
  • Proven track record of innovating and improving electrical repair or wiring processes, with visible impact on E-FTQ, DRR, GCA, or warranty performance.
