Electrical Design Engineer
Peterborough, Ontario
An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join us as an Electrical Design Engineer within the Naval Defense organization based in Peterborough, ON.
This is a high-profile role that will give you direct exposure to a diverse portfolio of Naval Handling Equipment programs. The Electrical Design Engineer will develop electrical systems from an architectural concept to a physical design that can be manufactured and tested.
Key Accountabilities:
- Analyzes/translates high level requirements and applicable standards into electrical design requirements.
- Liaises with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective electrical design.
- Designs and implements electrical designs to meet requirements including testability.
- Analyzes electrical designs for functional behavior, which may include modelling and simulation to demonstrate that the design meets high level requirements.
- Develops and reviews electrical tests that will provide evidence to demonstrate that the electrical requirements have been satisfied.
- Analyzes verification test results against electrical requirements; produces reports and associated documentation.
- Manages testing at third-party test house(s).
- Supports system level testing at our facility and in the field
Qualifications:
- A recognized electrical engineering degree and eligible to gain a license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P. Eng.
- Work experience of 2 – 3 years, preferably in the electrical field.
- Proficiency in English with a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada for greater than 5 years.
- Must pass Canadian Controlled Goods and Reliability Security Clearance Checks.
Preferred Requirements:
- Needs to be comfortable working with large equipment.
- Must be willing to travel on occasional basis to support product commissioning/testing in the field.
- Experience with industrial control systems (PLC,HMI) would be advantageous.
