The EKG Technician will regularly interact with nursing staff, members of the Adult Medical Emergency Team (AMET), physicians, and other EKG technicians to coordinate and perform cardiac testing, ensure timely communication of results, and support patient care across various clinical settings.
A caregiver in this position works days, 6:30am - 3:00pm, 40 hours in pay period and includes working every 4th weekend 6:30am -3pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform diagnostic electrocardiograms.
Position and connect leads from electrocardiograph machines to electrodes on specified body areas.
Review patients’ records and instruct patients prior to the procedure.
Monitor patients during procedures and report abnormal findings.
Identify and correct wandering, interference and artifacts.
Edit and forward results to the attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED
Six months of experience related to direct patient care or customer service in a hospital setting
OR completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology, paramedic or medical assisting program
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology, paramedic or medical assisting program
Physical Requirements:
Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
Extensive walking and standing.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
