E&I Designer/Field Coordinator

What You'll Do

Job Summary: Generally responsible for performing construction coordination for small to moderate construction assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision.  

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and communicate project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project.
  • Participate in development and planning meetings for assigned projects. 
  • Coordinate work activities, including permitting, with other project team members and the Project Manager, serving as liaison between Operations, Maintenance, HS&E, Automation, outside contractors and the Project Team..
  • Determine construction quantities and provide construction cost estimates.
  • Proactively lead and coordinate the efforts of a design staff to achieve scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Provide on-site assistance to Commissioning/Start-Up team during startup of projects, including loop check coordination and troubleshooting assistance in the plant.
  • Be responsible for maintaining set of accurate As-Built documentation to ensure proper project closures.  
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new team members as needed. 
  • Field verification, redlining, and updating of existing drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Identify existing drawings pertaining to scope of work, including both digital and paper versions where applicable.
  • Coordinate design with plant and Capital Engineering SME’s from estimate through all design stages.
  • Assist in building DCS tagname database (Excel sheet) from existing DCS and PLC’s to prepare upgrades to the existing DCS.

Ideal Background

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.  Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.  

Licensing: No licensing is required for this position.  

Experience: This position requires a minimum 5 years of relevant industrial construction coordination and administration experience.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.

  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
