Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries Fab 9 is seeking a professional engineer to support the 200mm semiconductor manufacturing and development in Essex Junction, Vermont.  The core responsibilities of this team involve driving a proactive safety culture through continuous improvement opportunities, ownership of EHS&S programs, collaboration with key stakeholders, and assisting with EHS&S trainings. This position is a Mon - Friday daytime role, fully onsite at our Essex, VT location.
 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the internal and external stakeholders to drive and facilitate a strong safety culture 
  • Assist with developing and implementing site-specific safety procedures and programs as assigned 
  • Work with various groups across the site, including management, to ensure timely and complete root cause investigations of all safety incidents, and timely and sustainable closure of all assigned corrective actions 
  • Participate as a site Module EHS&S Representative  
  • Assist teams on hazard identification, evaluation, control and provide appropriate risk mitigation strategies 
  • Participate regularly in pre-job walks with a safety focus
  • Review pre-task safety plans and associated high hazard permits, ensuring they are abiding by correct standards
  • Assist with new equipment and tool reviews and signoffs, ensuring they are abiding by correct standards 
  • Educate site personnel and contractors on safety requirements and standards. This includes delivery of safety information during New Employee Orientation (NEO) and to contractors via Contractor Safety Training sessions
  • Provide coaching and professional development to all employees to maintain safety excellence at the facility 
  • Review safety data and analyze for trends. Work with site personnel to develop actions plans based on the data 
  • Participate and lead portions of EHS self-assessment and/or audits 
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to site population 
  • Be an active participant and responder as part of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  • Assist with the preparation for, completion and coordination of site audits (VPP, Management Systems, etc.) 
  • Assist with the site Industrial Hygiene Program including updating site Qualitative Exposure Assessments and other Monitoring Plans  

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
  • Perform additional work activities as directed by EHS&S Management

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety or Health training or closely related degree or equivalent military experience required 
  • Education: Some relevant experience within a Manufacturing/Safety environment  
  • Periodic regional travel may be required 
  • Physical Capacity Demands – Ability to work in an Emergency Response capacity including use of an SCBA and level A/B hazmat equipment, wearing any other PPE as needed
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Education: Master's degree preferred 
  • Thorough working understanding of OSHA 1910/1926 standards and regulations 
  • Safety/IH Certification preferred. 
  • Thorough working understanding of equipment installation/removal  
  • Prior Semiconductor experience
  • Construction Safety experience a plus  

Expected Salary Range

$58,400.00 - $110,300.00
