Job Description
Under general supervision the EHS Technician is responsible for the coordination of facility environmental, health and safety policies and procedures. Monitors and ensures that necessary EHS controls are in place and being followed. Conducts evaluations of programs designed to limit chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic risk to employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and ensures safety controls, records and permits are maintained and prepared according to policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains facility compliance with Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations, to include documentation and record retention requirements.
Coordinates the purchase and inventory of personal protective equipment.
Facilitates new hire and continuing EHS and Safety training programs for employees and promotes a behavior-based safety culture.
Maintains facility compliance with all local, State, and Federal environmental laws and regulations to include reports, applications, permits etc.
Coordinates with government regulators, inspectors, and corporate personnel as necessary. Assists with audits and seeks to resolve corrective actions in a timely manner.
Responsible for the implementation of EHS policies and procedures including PPE, chemical safety, ergonomics, illness, and injury prevention and building safety.
Conducts accident/incident investigations and evaluates near-miss reporting. Conducts comprehensive assessments to determine root cause and makes recommendations for corrective actions where environmental health and safety hazards exist.
Coordinates Emergency Response Team (ERT), Safety Committee and Disaster Recovery Business Continuity Plan.
Coordinates the safe use of equipment, processes, fire prevention and safety programs with all departments.
Reviews and facilitates approval of any changes to processes, new products, or new chemicals and compounds that are going to be introduced in the facility.
Maintains the SDS and Hazardous Communications program.
Oversees hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and waste management systems.
Stays current on industrial trends, changes to government requirements, and company policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
Daily availability to include evenings and weekends as necessary to address urgent issues.
Requirements:
Vocational or Technical Certificate and/or training in related field and a minimum of 5 years EHS experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience dealing with local, State and Federal regulatory agencies.
Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with employees at all levels to effectively convey safety procedures and policies.
Strong observational skills to accurately inspect and assess the workplace for potential hazards and to implement safety measures.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel and other applicable EHS systems.
This position is 100% onsite and does not offer a remote work option.

Salary Range:
